Raising the Bed

Today's weather was a whisper of spring to come. I took it as cue to start and finish a raised garden bed project.

Last week, I went to Barbur World Foods to get some of my favorite bratwurst, made locally by Altengartz.

While I was walking through the parking lot, I noticed a nice wooden fruit box near the recycling dumpster. The owner came out to see what I was inquiring about, and he gave it to me for free.

I had that for a few days, when my sweetie bought a new shower curtain.

I thought the old one would make a great liner. And it does.

Soil. I would like to have my own compost to use, but we only moved in here a few months ago.
Today, I bought 4 cubic feet of Black Gold potting soil.

I purchased it at Foster Feed & Garden, they are always so nice and helpful there.

Then I came home and put it all together. I put the shower curtain in the box and cut holes for drainage in the bottom.

Then I poured in 3 cubic feet of soil.

All I had to do then was to cut off the overlapping plastic. Ta-da!
